Thyme knew something was wrong the moment he and Nate materialized into the home of Jack Frost. One glance at the bloodied tiles had his stomach sinking. They had followed the trail left by the hourglass, faint as it was. Neither of them had been surprised that it led directly there. With witnesses and security having proven Jack’s guilt already, there had been no doubt.

Confusion flooded Thyme as he attempted to reach out mentally to the device, yet came up with nothing.

“Shit. I can’t sense it here anymore.”

He shared a concerned look with Nate. How was it possible for the hourglass to just suddenly disappear? Thyme would have to use all of his strength to track it down again. It would leave him weak and vulnerable. Dammit.

“But it was here, right?”

Thyme nodded. “Oh yeah, no doubt, but it’s gone now.”

“Shit. What now?”

“We need to split up. Search this place for any sign that I can use to track the hourglass down. And call out if you find Jack.” Thyme’s eyes roamed over the place with unease. “There is a lot of blood here, and something tells me it’s Jack’s.”

Both men separated, moving from room to room. Jack’s place was huge, grand, and a total pain in the arse to search for anything. Talk about overcompensating.

More than an hour had passed when finally he heard Nate call out, “Thyme, get in here now!”

Thyme materialized to his side, finding an unconscious Jack bleeding on the ground. “What the fuck? Jack?”

The small man with a large attitude groaned. “T-Thyme?”

“Yeah, you little shit. Want to tell us what happened?”

Jack winced, no doubt at the aggression in Thyme’s voice, but he didn’t give a fuck. “I-I don’t know.”

“What do you mean, you don’t know?” Nate scoffed.

“I have no idea. Where am I?” Jack appeared completely disorientated. “The last thing I remember...Nick and I were fighting again, I told him where to go, and…”

They waited for Jack to continue, however when he didn’t, Nate finished for him. “And you went to Thyme’s place, stole the silver hourglass and began messing with the seasons. Fantastic. What we want to know is what happened afterwards and where the hell it is now?”

“What!” Jack shouted. “I didn’t take the bloody hourglass.”

“Yeah, you did,” he snapped, not in the mood to play games. “We have witnesses, Jack. So don’t bother.”

Jack became furious as he shoved at them, refusing their help up. “I didn’t fucking take it. I don’t remember what happened after I left Nick’s place, but I sure as hell didn’t mess with the hourglasses.”

“And we’re supposed to believe this,” Nate sneered. “After all the games you've played.”

“Games,” Jack bit out. “I may screw around, but never with something like this.”

Thyme didn’t know what it was, but something told him that Jack might actually be telling the truth. Given the fact they had witnesses though, none of it made sense.

Jack let out a self-deprecating laugh. “But of course you don’t believe me. Funny how I could work side by side with you Keepers for thousands of years, and after one mistake, suddenly you deem me unworthy.
